On June 8, 2016, ZOE International, in collaboration with the the US Department of State - Office to Monitor & Combat Trafficking in Persons, and the Chiang Mai Thailand Private Children's Home Association, hosted a conference for about 60 organizations. The topic was "Child Protection and Internet Safety for Children." The conference was led by two speakers from Dtac (a telecommunication company providing digital information and technology in Thailand), David Cross, our National Director of ZOE Australia and our Child Protection Manager, and Brad Ortenzi, our Director of ZOE Child Rescue, who is US retired law enforcement and has served on a task force specializing in child exploitation cyber crimes.
On April 30th and May 1st , ZOE and Safe Harbor Family Services held our first “Are You Ready?” orientations. People who attended these short events received information about providing care for children who have experienced trauma and about our plans to open ZOE Children’s Homes | Los Angeles. They also learned about a wide range of ways they can take part in this life-changing process.
All of us here at ZOE are excited to share some news about our partnership with GV Concepts, Inc. ZOE will be the first in-the-field user of the Doctorgram application, the brainchild of Mr. Ching-Kay Chow, founder and president of GV Concepts, Inc. What is the Doctorgram app, you might ask?
Through the busy season, I am reminded that God is closer than we know. A lot is happening and sometimes it feels like we are running from one place to another. But the moments we get together to pray have been so refreshing.
Every 4th Tuesday of the month at 6pm, we have prayer for an hour at the US office. It is open to anyone who has a heart to fight human trafficking through prayer. We also have a prayer room that is available during our office hours.
Have you ever wondered how much water we drink at ZOE? Probably not, but just for your information, here it is!
As of 2016, we order 50 bottles (20 liters each) EVERY WEEK! These water bottles are ONLY USED FOR DRINKING. We have multiple water coolers set up all around ZOE, so this is the most efficient way to make sure everyone has clean water to drink. How much does all this cost per week? About $30 per week delivered! The annual cost is about $1,560 per year!
