In February of 2017, Natalie moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand to join ZOE. Natalie was born and raised in Singapore and is an attorney called to the Singapore bar. She practised law as a litigator, before moving into the non-profit sector focusing on child and youth justice and policy issues. She is currently learning Thai and speaks English, "Singlish" (her native tongue), Mandarin, Cantonese, and she understand basic French and Italian.
From a young age, God gave her a heart for justice with the word from Isaiah 1:17 to “learn to do right, seek justice, defend the oppressed, take up the cause of the fatherless and plead the case of the widow. ” This led her to believe that God was calling her into the legal field. Thus, Natalie completed a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the National University of Singapore, with a focus in international justice. Later, she also graduated with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Legal Studies from Georgetown University (in Washington D.C.) specialising in human trafficking, child soldiers, refugee law, and international criminal justice. She has worked for the Singapore Red Cross, INTERPOL (International Police Organisation) in Lyon, France, and in a Christian law firm providing pro-bono help to refugees in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In particular, Natalie has a heart for the restoration and reintegration of human trafficking victims and she honestly believes that despite having the best medical and psychological care, a victim can not fully be restored without God’s overwhelming love. Only God’s love can truly deliver us from all hurts!
In 2013, Natalie heard about ZOE for the first time. However, it was only in November 2015, that God spoke the word “children” to Natalie during a period of fasting and praying. 1 weeks later, Natalie was invited to the ZOE Gala Dinner in Anaheim, California and heard from ZOE founders Mike and Carol Hart about their passion for restoration and justice and how our God is the only “true medicine” that can truly heal the broken-hearted. This led her to fall in love with ZOE and its mission to bring the gospel to the nations through rescuing children from human trafficking.
Currently, Natalie is blessed to be sent by her home church, Wesley Methodist Church (Singapore), to serve in the ZOE Child Rescue Department. She is excited to learn about God’s plan to rescue more children here in Thailand and beyond. She feels incredibly privileged to be able to partner with God on an adventure in declaring His victory over darkness!
