Ten years ago, in 2004, many milestones were laid down on the path that ZOE would travel in the years to come. It was the year that Michael and Carol Hart (the founders of ZOE) traveled to Washington DC to meet with Thailand's Ambassador to the United States to discuss ZOE's role in combatting human trafficking in Thailand. There would be many more meetings with government officials over the years that would position ZOE wonderfully for the work God had called them to.
Ten years ago marks the first short term mission team to travel to ThaIland with ZOE. Among the team members was a young lady named Jessica Dodd. Soon after that trip God called Jessica to a full time commitment to ZOE. She has served as ZOE's Children's Ministry Manager impacting many lives both at ZOE and throughout Thailand as she and her team share the gospel with children wherever they can. Over 187 people have followed that first team to Thailand on short term mission trips of their own to ZOE's Children's Home.
(We would love to hear from those of you who have been on these trips. Please send an email to info@goZOE.org with your stories, thoughts and memories.)
In April 2004, ZOE was officially launched with a banquet held at the Universal Sheraton Grand Ball Room with special guest talent that included Steven Curtis Chapman, Jonathan Butler and Johnny Lang. 800 people attended to hear Mike and Carol share the call that God had put on their hearts to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. Many of these people joined the fight that night and have been partners of ZOE ever since. (If you have been on the journey with us for years or are new to our family it would be a huge encouragement to hear why you support ZOE. Please let us know by sending an email to info@goZOE.org.)
So many exciting things happened this year that we don’t have enough room in one blog to share them all! We will be posting the second half of 2004 tomorrow, February 25th. Sign up below to receive our blog in your email box.
