Vickie McCoy Dreams About ZOE Children’s Homes
written by Vickie McCoy, General Manager of Aftercare, ZOE Children’s Homes, Los Angeles
I had a dream about you last night! I dreamt that you arrived at the ZOE home (soon to be) here in Los Angeles. I greeted you at the front door and you looked scared though you were doing a good job covering it up. I wondered if you could see that I was scared too. My mind was racing. “Will she feel safe here? Will she accept our help? Will she fight for herself to have a wonderful future?” and I even thought, “Will she like the ZOE family, staff and me?”
I have been waiting for this moment, for you to arrive, for a long time now. You came with very little in your hands, but I could not help but wonder what you came with inside your body, soul and spirit. How have you been hurt and where is your pain stored? What are your dreams and passions, and where are they tucked away? Where did you come from? Where is your family? Who are your parents? How many siblings do you have? Aunties and uncles? Grandma and grandpa? What do you like to do? Play sports, sing, play an instrument, draw, drama or academics?
What is the little girl like who lives deep inside you? Will she be trusting in order to receive the healing necessary for the teenage part of you to move forward and be all that God intends you to be? My hope is that your little girl will come out of hiding and reconnect with you to receive the love she so desperately deserves and needs.
I have been praying for you for many years even before I arrived here at ZOE. There are so many more who have been praying for you as well. I promise to do my best to depend on Jesus to guide and direct my steps as I walk alongside you on your journey. I am hopeful and excited to see what the future holds for you!
Welcome to the ZOE family. It is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Miss Vickie. What is your name?
