Our Time at Orphan Summit 2015

ZOE Attends CAFO’s Orphan Summit

Each year, for the past six years, ZOE has had the privilege of attending Orphan Summit put on by Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO).

“The Christian Alliance for Orphans unites more than 140 respected Christian organizations and a national network of churches. Working together, our joint initiatives inspire and equip Christians to reflect God’s heart in caring for orphans in adoption, foster care, and global orphan care initiatives. “

It is always inspiring and invigorating to meet people from all over the world wanting to make a difference in the lives of orphans and children in oppressive circumstances. This year, we heard from many children (now adults) whose lives were changed because someone cared enough to step in and help. As I listened to these testimonies, I was struck by how differently the lives of these people could have turned out if it were not for one caring person who was willing to see a need and answer the call to care for orphans in their distress. (James 1:27)

We also had the honor of conducting two breakout sessions entitled “Do One Thing: Combatting Human Trafficking.” Because orphans are one of the most vulnerable populations to traffickers, orphan care and human trafficking intersect on a most disturbing level. By bringing the issue of human trafficking to Orphan Summit, we are able to educate, inspire, and equip people on how they can do one thing to prevent children from becoming victims of human trafficking.

At ZOE International, we are grateful for an organization like CAFO that is working diligently to bring people together to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. We are already looking forward to next year’s summit!
