ZCHLA Awaits Licensing for L.A. Children’s Home
Written by Vickie McCoy, our Director of Aftercare – Los Angeles.
I don’t know about you, but so often I feel as though life is like the childhood game Chutes and Ladders. I find myself moving along one space at a time and, some days, I get really excited about the advances I have made. It’s like jumping onto one of those ladders within the game. Then, there are those days when I definitely feel like I got hit in the gut and took a ride down one of those slides–sometimes just a few spaces back, and other times back to the beginning of the game.
I am reminded of the song “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.” Part of the song reads, “Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”
ZCHLA (ZOE Children’s Homes Los Angeles) is making movement across the board, accomplishing many tasks that need to be handled before receiving licensing. We have climbed a couple of ladders and tackled some major tasks. We also continue to learn more about what it takes to open a home for child trafficking victims in Los Angeles and sometimes those learning experiences can feel like setbacks or trips down the slide–back a couple of spaces.
However, the truth is that we are right where God wants us to be. He knows which property is the right one. He knows when we will get our licensing. We can rest in the truth that He knows everything.
What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. (See Hebrews 11:1.)
So we turn our eyes upon Jesus, celebrate all He is doing, and look forward to the things He will do regarding ZCHLA.
