Register for ZOE Rescue Walk

Before the Rainy Season Comes…

There is a LOT of work that needs to happen around ZOE before the heavy rains hit Thailand. The rains typically come in late May to mid June, so right now we are hard at work prepping for the life-giving rain that hits Northern Thailand. Since we are in the middle of a drought, it is even more important that we be ready to take advantage of the rains and plant things quickly!

Here is the ZOE tractor.

This week, we started tilling the soil on property that ZOE rents each year to grow corn. The corn is a special hybrid used to feed pigs; so we grow it, let it dry on the stock, then harvest and store it for the coming year. We have our very own tractor, so it is much more cost-effective for us to till the soil ourselves. However, it is still HOT, dusty, and dirty work, but our Thai men do it with a smile!

Some of the 10 acres we’ll be plowing in the next few weeks.

On the ZOE land, many trees have shed their leaves, and we need to pick them all up! However, we do not throw the leaves away; we actually collect as much as we can and use it as part of our composting process to produce better soil for our crops!

It takes a lot of planning, funds, and time to keep the ZOE Children’s Home running efficiently and effectively. If you are interested in helping, you can donate here.
