National Social Work Month

By Vickie McCoy

Did you know that March was National Social Work Month?

I did not, until today when I attended a Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) Service Providers Roundtable meeting and the facilitator started the meeting by thanking all the social workers in the room for the work they do.

Working at ZOE for the last five years, I have been able to hear the hearts of many social workers. These folks are modern-day heroes. They are available all hours of the day and work some serious magic in the lives of children. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to partner with these heroes in changing one story at a time, right here in Los Angeles.

Will you do me a favor and if you just finished reading this blog? Will you write a thank you note to your local Department of Children Family Services (DCFS) or Child Protective Services (CPS) office and let them know they are not alone. Will you tell them that you recognize the work they are doing and are grateful?
