Nick & Heather Durick
The Durick’s partnership with ZOE started in 2013 when Nick went on his first short term mission’s trip. The following year Heather went on hers, not only feeling the connection Nick had talked about for the last year, but she left as a whole new person. The day before their departure back to the USA Nick proposed to Heather while floating down the river on a bamboo raft! They returned the following year, not for a mission’s trip, but for their wedding. They were blessed and shown much favor, as many of the ZOE staff were able to be a part of their magical day.
After taking the first year to focus on their marriage, Nick and Heather returned to missions in the winter of 2016. Soon after their arrival home to Illinois they knew it was time to finally take the leap of faith and go where God was calling them.
The Durick’s currently live in Rockford, Illinois, a city located an hour west of Chicago. Nick grew up just outside of Rockford where he has lived all but 5 years of his life. While living in Mankato, Minnesota he studied a few years at Minnesota State, then moved back to Rockford in 2009. Shortly after his return he got in to Auto Sales and has been highly rewarded in the industry.
Heather was raised in southwest Virginia and moved to Tennessee shortly after graduating high school in 1996. She was able to travel the country for a couple of years while working with the NHRA drag racing circuit before moving to Utah where she worked as a studio photographer for 5 years. The Lord paved her way to Rockford in the Fall of 2011 where she met Nick while attending a young adult’s Life Group. Nick and Heather began dating and leading their own Life Group together in 2012.
In 2013 Heather began working at City First Church. She has been the Administrative Assistant to 5 pastors while also holding the position of Office Manager. Multi-tasking comes easy. Both Heather and Nick have been high capacity volunteers throughout their time at City First. On their down time you find them traveling and spending as much time together as possible. They share a love and passion for the Chicago Cubs.. go Cubs!
They are most excited to dive into the Thai culture and be the light and love of Jesus to a nation that badly needs it.
