Rescue Is The Beginning of The Story: The Gospel Redeems A Broken Family in Thailand
*Ruth’s life was full of loneliness and pain. Her family was broken: her mother is gone and her father is an alcoholic. So, she found family elsewhere in a local gang. To fill the void, Ruth spent time looking for pleasure through drugs, sex, violence. and anything that would help.
When Ruth arrived at ZOE Thailand’s Child Rescue Center, she felt scared, alone, and uncertain about her future.
However, her story is now no longer marked by the pain of her past. Within days of being in our care, Ruth heard, received, and fully embraced the gospel of Jesus. For the first time, she felt loved, and supported by people.
One day, Ruth felt compelled to call her father–the same distant father who had committed himself to alcohol over his family. During their conversation, he mentioned that someone at his work had been sharing the gospel with him. He shared with her that he has now given up alcohol and is now living for Christ.
The father and daughter celebrated together. God has been healing and helping both of their hearts at the same time in their time of need.
After this miracle, Ruth quickly went on to share Jesus with everyone she met. Within a matter of weeks, her life was flipped upside down and became a model for other young girls recovering in our care.
Her story shows how God is always moving, always at work–even in the midst of broken families and wounded hearts. These stories of hope were only able to happen through God’s love and the ability to have a safe place to rescue young children.
