The Church Is the Answer: Uniting to Protect LA’s Most Vulnerable
This month, CarePortal hosted its 5th Annual Greater Los Angeles Pastor’s Luncheon—a powerful gathering where the Church united to address the foster care crisis in our city.
More than 400 pastors, leaders, and organizations from across Los Angeles attended, including the Director of the LA County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Together, they explored how their unique roles and organizations can partner more effectively. The luncheon was marked by meaningful connection, collaboration, celebration, and worship as we honored the incredible work God is doing throughout our city.
ZOE International’s Western Regional Director, Ester Yu, participated in a panel discussion, sharing about the realities of human trafficking, how foster youth are especially vulnerable in Los Angeles, and how ZOE is partnering with churches to both prevent trafficking and provide restorative care for children.
One week after the event, we hosted a virtual “Churches Helping ZOE End Child Trafficking” meeting on Zoom to equip church leaders with practical ways to get involved. At ZOE, we believe the Church is the answer to every problem on earth.
